A Little Hard Work

My friend Rachel and I both got our pilot licenses at the same time. We also both got airplanes at the same time. However, I know WAY more about my plane than Rachel does about hers. You see, we were both searching for planes at the same time, but in different locations. She was looking for a new or recently new aircraft that she wouldn’t have to put any work into. I was looking for a used aircraft that needed some work. We both purchased our planes, and it was several weeks before I could use mine. She laughed at me the whole time, telling me what a cheap person I was and bragging about the air time she was putting in. But, at the end of three months, I had purchased a plane and some reconditioned avionics, learned how to install them, checked the engine, stripped the plane, sanded it, repainted, and placed my call sign on the door. My plane looks better than new and it fits my personality and style. Plus, I know how to fix almost anything in the cockpit. Rachel, on the other hand, had her radio go out a month later and had to pay a few thousand dollars to have it fixed. Now tell me: who do you think made the better purchase?
