Email marketing and your small business marketing plan

Small businesses marketing via email have stumbled upon an inexpensive way to generate traffic to their websites which can turn directly into sales. While email marketing can be very effective, you have to know how to craft those messages. Most small business marketing email campaigns don’t even get read, often going straight to the recipient’s junk folder, or getting deleted because it looks spammy.

The copy you use for traditional sales letters isn’t going to work with your email marketing strategies. You could send thousands of messages a week, but if they’re written like a regular letter they will not work. Email marketing is completely different from sales letter marketing, sales calls and postcards.

When you open your email in the morning, what’s your process? You might have dozens or hundreds of email messages in your inbox. Chances are you delete half of them. You are forced to sort through all of that junk mixed in among your legitimate messages. Do you know how to increase the likelihood that your small business marketing messages will be seen by your recipients?
