Categories of Eating Disorders

Unhealthy eating patterns can be a manifestation of depression, low self esteem, feelings of worthlessness, feelings of loss of control or just feel unable to cope with the world. Many people with eating disorders have not been able to find a reasonable way to cope with their concerns, problems or emotions causing them to turn to food or away from food to compensate.  Not unlike a drug addict or an alcoholic, persons with a disorder in eating use the crutch of restricting food, purging or binging to help them deal with problems. There are three categories of this disorder, Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa or Compulsive Overeating.
