Early Detection Before The Symptoms Of Prostate Cancer Appear

As with many conditions the appearance of the symptoms of prostate cancer can often mean that the condition is quite well advanced. However, today there are two simple tests which can help to detect the presence of prostate cancer before any symptoms appear.

The first is a digital rectal examination in which the doctor feels the prostate gland to detect signs of undue firmness or irregularities and the second is a simple blood test (known as a PSA) test to detect the levels of a specific antigen produced by the prostate gland. While neither of these tests will produce a diagnosis of prostate cancer both are firm indicators of a developing problem which needs further investigation.
