Adding Eleganced To The Wedding
My sister was getting married and she didn’t want to offend her future mother-in-law. But she had a problem.
Future Mom was frugal and believed in doing things simply. She also insisted that the ceremony be held in a small, ancient church which hadn’b been opened in years.
I told Sis to agree to the church if she could just add a few touches. New Mom agreed and we went to work.
We spruced up the churche’s lawn, added bows to everything we could see, and banked the altar with flowers. Once we added a custom fabric aisle runner and bows on the pews, the little church looked like a bride’s dream.
And, after we’d added champagne in glass flutes, a cake table runner, and centerpieces to the reception, that became a thing of beauty, too.
The little church wedding actually turned out to be one of the prettiest I’ve been to.
It was also my sister’s first lesson in getting what she wants and keeping mother-in-law happy.
