Divorce Facts
In 1975, women initiated the divorce 67.2 percent of the time, and in 1980, that figure was down to 63.4 percent.
Of special interest: Divorces were most likely to occur early in marriages, with 33.6 percent taking place by the fourth year. Overall, marriages that ended in divorce lasted an average of 9.6 years.
First marriages that ended in divorce lasted 10.7 years, while second marriage ended after 6.7 years and third marriages lasted 7.2 years. A bunch of numbers, without faces behind them. I can’t relate to that. But I can pass along the latest findings and share with you the trends, but it doesn’t make getting over divorce any easier I know.
